Important Information about Shoeperwoman.com and Heart Internet web hosting

Hi everyone,

First of all, huge apologies for the fact that the site was down almost all of yesterday.

Secondly, you’ll probably notice that now that it’s back, it’s displaying posts from September. This is because at about 2pm today our web hosts, Heart Internet, contacted us to say that while they were working on our server they had managed to irretrievably lose the entire site  – and all the rest of our websites – and that there was absolutely nothing they could do to recover it. Essentially, they told us Shoeoerwoman (and, indeed, all of our other sites) was gone for good.

Yes.

As you can see, that turned out not to be true and they have managed to restore most of the site. We have, however, lost just over a month’s worth of posts, and the posts we do have don’t currently have images. We have our own backup of those posts, but it will take us several days to get them back online, and unfortunately there won’t be any posts here for a few days because it’s going to take us at least until then to deal with the considerable fallout from this fiasco.

We’re currently working on rebuilding the sites, but as the posts are restored you’ll notice they won’t have images or comments to start with – there’s no need to contact us about this, we know about it and are working on it!

We’re really sorry for the interruption in transmission, and hope you’ll bear with us for a couple of days until we can get back on our feet.

Goodness! Looks like people aren’t just decorating their trees for Christmas this year, then – they’re putting baubles on their shoes, too!

I generally like shoes with huge embellishments on the toes, but these ones by Gaspard Yurkievich are a bit big even for me, with the balls looking a bit like they just landed on the shoe by mistake. Still, I guess they are very appropriate for the Christmas season, assumig you don’t mind being mistaken for one of the decorations!  They’re $231 and available here.

ASOS red grosgain diamante heeled shoes

ASOS have tried their level best to place temptation in my way with these shoes: they’re red, they’re sparkly, they have bows on the front, they’re an affordable £45.  Just about everything I like in a shoe, really, but…. somehow they’re just not going it for me. I think it may be the concealed platform, which makes the front of the shoe look too chunky for the delicate bow, but whatever it is, these are nice, but not nice enough to have me reaching for the credit card. They’re also available in black, though, and I actually think they work better in that colour – take a look at the ASOS website and see for yourself!

Faith ‘Coa’ suede effect court shoes

Studs AND flowers? My, Faith are certainly pulling out all the stops in the “Bang on trend” stakes! All that’s missing is a platform, and they’d be as trendy as it gets!

While some studded shoes will undoubtedly start to look dated in a year (or maybe even less), though, I think these ones are a relatively safe choice. Perhaps it’s that very lack of a platform that does it, but they actually have a fairly timeless shape, with only the sprinkling of studs giving a nod towards the current season. I really like them, particularly in grey, and the price isn’t too bad either – they’re £50 at Faith.

Bronze lace-up shoe boots from Matalan

I show you these shoes, readers, not because there’s anything particularly remarkable about them, but because the ones on the left? Are £2. The shinier ones on the right, meanwhile? £4.50. Even given that those are sale prices, they still seem absurdly low: I wouldn’t wear these myself, but they’re not that bad, are they? Are they?

Needless to say, there are limited sizes available on the website, but if Matalan are selling shoes for £2, looks like I’m going to have to schedule a trip there soon…

Celebrity Shoes: Charlize Theron in Christian Louboutin platform pumps

LFI HOLLYWOOD035 11 Celebrity Shoes: Charlize Theron in Christian Louboutin platform pumps

Charlize Theron looked stunning in this simple black dress at the 13th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala this week, but, predictably enough, I though the shoes stole the show. These are by Christian Louboutin, and have been available in a couple of different colour combinations, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone wearing this red velvet/silver glitter version. It’s one of those things that sounds like it shouldn’t possibly work (other than on a Christmas tree, possibly), but I think it looks fantastic, although I suspect not everyone will agree with me. Do you?

DKNY ‘Tina’ leather bow pumps

DKNY isn’t a brand I’ve featured very often here at Shoeperwoman – in fact, a quick check reveals that these are only the second pair of shoes from the brand to appear here, and the first pair were wellies, so don’t really count.

I’m happy to redress the imbalance now, though, with these ‘Tina’ court shoes, which are everything I love in shoes right now, from the two-tone colour to the little velvet bows on the toes, to the glittery heels. Fancy, but not ridiculously so, they’re available at Net-a-Porter, where they’re £190.
