Prada’s champagne and patent slingback sandals with knot detail

prada sandals Pradas champagne and patent slingback sandals with knot detail

Sorry for the lack of posts today, folks: we’ve been having the first really hot day of summer here, and each year when that blessed day arrives, we can guarantee that our internet connection will die. And it did. Seriously, it’s like living in the dark ages, only with reaaaalllly slow dial-up.

Anyway, onto the shoes! Prada went off the rails a little for the past couple of seasons (as far as I’m concerned, anyway), so this shoe is all the more pleasing to me: the nude (they call it “champagne”) uppers are obviously going to appeal, but I also like the knot detail, and the fact that it’ll sit across the bridge of the foot, or a little lower, rather than on the toe, which is where this kind of thing usually ends up on shoes.

Being Prada, though, these aren’t cheap: they’re $620 and you can buy them here.

Rose embellished court shoes from Karen Millen

karen millen court shoes Rose embellished court shoes from Karen MillenAnother pair of black and white shoes, but these ones are almost the negative of the Reiss shoes I showed you earlier, as these are white with a black trim, rather than vice versa. They’re still very striking, though, and if you’re a fan of flower-embellished shoes, these could make a nice buy for a wedding or other special occasion. Occasion shoes are one of Karen Millen’s strengths – you’ll rarely find what you could call a “casual” shoe there – and they have a nice selection in at the moment, which aren’t too extortionately priced.

Reiss Clementine frill detail platfrom shoe from ASOS

resiss frill front sandals Reiss Clementine frill detail platfrom shoe from ASOSThese may just be my favourite shoes of the week so far. Or of today, at least. I mean, let’s not get carried away here.

The word “frill” is normally a guarantee that I’ll be in too minds about the shoe it’s attached to, because too many frills spoil the broth shoe, as far as I’m concerned, but I think this one works beautifully – perhaps because I wouldn’t describe it so much as a “frill” as a “big flowery thing”. What a way I have with words, to be sure!

Anyway, in addition to the BFT, the white piping on these shoes also grabbed my attention: there’s something very sophisticated about it, and the overall look here is wonderfully dramatic, like the shoe equivalent of a film noir or something.

The uppers are suede, there’s a concealed platform to add a bit of height, and these are priced at £159. Get them at ASOS.

Miss L-Fire ‘Darcy’ peep toes with brooch detail

miss l fire peep toes Miss L Fire Darcy peep toes with brooch detail

One of the many things I find hard to resist on a pair of shoes is a brooch detail of some description.  I also love Miss L-Fire for their quirky-but-wearable designs, so naturally a Miss L-Fire shoe with a brooch on the front was guaranteed to get my attention!

This is their “Darcy” peep toe, and as you can see, as well as the little brooch/ribbon embellishment on the toe, it also has an interesting little basket heel, which I’d like to see in real life to get a better impression of. I was initially drawn to the blue/white mix, which is very fresh looking, but I’m a sucker for a red shoe, too, so now I’m torn between the two.

Both are available at ASOS.com, where they’re £89.

Keds circle print wedge sandals

keds wedges Keds circle print wedge sandalsThese aren’t quite what I tend to think of when someone says the word “Keds”, but I think I like them, anyway. The dotty heels are lots of fun, and help liven up the otherwise basic shape these wedges and that dotty pattern is picked up on the toes, too. A nice, summery shoe that should be comfortable to wear thanks to the wedge heel and strap, these are £55 from La Redoute.

Melissa ‘Karim’ plastic wedge shoes exclusive to Browns

melissa karim wedges Melissa ‘Karim’ plastic wedge shoes exclusive to BrownsFresh from their collaboration with Vivienne Westwood, Melissa are at it again, this time joining forces with Karim Rashid to create these pink wedges in the brands trademark plastic.

I was a huge fan of the Anglomania collaboration, but this one I’m not so sure about. I love the heels, but the super-pointy toes are putting me off a little. If you have no such qualms, however, they’re £70 from Browns: what do you think of them, though?

christian louboutin shoes New discount Christian Louboutins now in at TheOutnetI mentioned this on Twitter a couple of days ago, but now the blessed day has finally arrived, and TheOutnet.com has just released a whole new batch of beautiful Christian Louboutins onto the site.

Shoeperwoman to the rescue! Find me great mid-height heels

United Nude 'Mobius'

It’s Shoeperwoman to the rescue once more, folks, this time with a question from Karina, whose blog, Anywhere But Here, is a must-read for anyone interested in fashion!

Karina writes:

My feet won’t let me physically wear heels over 3 inches, and under 3 is preferred. I can wear wedges though so as long as the slope isn’t over 3 inches (for example a five inch heel with a two inch platform is something I can wear). However, I can never find any really pretty, amazing, cool, unique or sexy shoes at the mid-heel height. Everything I lust over ends up being over 3 inches and never to be mine. Do you have any finds or suggestions for a sexy and interesting mid-heel shoe (it can be a wedge, espadrille, pump, sandal, mary-jane – and I like strappy shoes most of all).

Thanks!!!
