Suede uppers with a metallic overlay, a generously sized corsage on the toe, a feather sticking out the side of it, and… actually, I don’t know what you’d call the detailing on the heel. There’s definitely rather a lot going on with Irregular Choice’s Toodle Loo Mowkawk pumps, but I love all of it: well, almost all of it – I could live without the feather and the heel… thing… but the gorgeously curved heel and beautiful uppers make up for those two minor points. These look like old-fashioned court shoes in the true sense of the phrase, and I’d have to agree with Schuh’s description of them as “opulent”.

Some recent questions from Formspring…
Q: What does Terry think of your ‘shoe addiction’?
I don’t think he really understands it, because he’s not interested in shoes himself, but Terry’s happy as long as I’m happy – and as long as I’m not getting into debt or spending our savings on them, obviously!
Q: Do you know of any website that allows you to design your own boots?
I’m afraid not – I know shoesofprey.com lets you design your own shoes, but I don’t know of any similar sites for boots [edit: a few days after I answered this question, I had an email from a company called Selve: their service is "semi-bespoke" - i.e. you can choose different colours, materials etc for your shoes, but you can't design your own from scratch. They do include boots, though, so while the prices are on the expensive side (think £500 for a pair of knee boots) they could be worth checking out.]
Q: What camera do you use to take your shoe shots? AND Do you often take them yourself with a timer/tripod or does Shoeperman help? x
I have a Nikon D5000. The indoor shots and some of the outside ones are taken by me with a tripod and remote control, and Terry takes the rest!
Q: Hi, what coat/jacket do you usually wear when out walking Rubin? I’m asking because I walk alot (twice a day) with my twin babies come rain or shine! i currently wear a berghaus rain jacket which is practical but just not stylish!
Hmm, I don’t actually have a special coat for walking him – it’s really just whatever coat or jacket goes with what I’m wearing at the time!
Q: What was your first blog?
My first “proper” blog was foreveramber.co.uk – I’d been blogging for a long time before that, though, on livejournal, and on a free Angelfire site, although we didn’t call it “blogging” then!
Q: How long did it take you to build up a following on your blogs and what did you do to try to maximise it?
I think The Fashion Police took about two years to build a following: the other sites were much quicker than that because they were able to benefit from the following The Fashion Police had by that point: many of its readers also started to read Shoeperwoman, for instance, when it launched.
I don’t really remember doing anything specific to build readership. I think I was pretty lucky in that I was freelancing for quite a few of the Shiny Media blogs at the time I launched The Fashion Police, and so people got to know me through that. Shiny were also kind enough to allow their writers to link back to their own sites from some articles, so that helped a lot
Q: What do you think of tall girls wearing heels? I think it looks fine but my friends disagree
I love seeing tall girls in heels – if anything, it shows that they’re obviously comfortable with their height, and I think people who are happy and comfortable with themselves almost always look good. So, yes, I think it looks absolutely fine!
Stuart Weitzman’s ‘Rockstar’ thigh high boots: made with 22,000 Swarovski clear crystals, worn by Rihanna on her recent tour… and $10,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue.
I’d say more about this, but I’m sitting here imagining what it would be like to spend $10,000 on one pair of boots, and to be honest, it’s making me feel a little shaky. If you want to go ahead and do, it, however, the New York city Saks is the only place you’ll be able to find these. You’ll find me, meanwhile, lying down in a darkened room.
I don’t normally go for square-toed shoes, but the fact that these ones by Guess remind me more of pointe ballet shoes, and less of Roald Dahl’s The Witches is a good sign. Another good sign is the red suede uppers, which are bright without being brash, as can often be the case with red shoes.
They’re not quite what I’m looking for in my Ruby Shoesday search, but they are cute, and reasonably affordable, too, at $109.95. Click here to buy them from Zappos.

Miu Miu are still doing the chunky platform thing for Fall.
And they’re doing it with leopard print booties.
I think that’s all I really need to say about that, don’t you? What do YOU have to say about it, though?

Today is a great day for me, and a terrible one for Shoeperman, it being the day that Zara finally starts selling its clothes and shoes online!
Zara is one of my favourite stores, and I rarely visit one of their stores without finding at least one pair of shoes I want to buy, but there isn’t a branch in my town, which means I only ever shop there occasionally. (In fact, I most often shop at Zara when I’m in Spain or the US, which is actually quite bizarre, now I come to think of it …) As of today, however, the brand’s new transactional website allows you to shop from the clothing, shoe and accessory ranges, with shipping available to the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Germany: sorry, rest-of-the-world, hopefully they’ll start shipping to you soon!
I’ve already had a good look through the site, and while the clothes have left me a little uninspired, I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be able to get through the winter without these:

I know I’ve already shown you the red version of Kurt Geiger’s Echinacea pumps, but you’ll have to forgive me for showing you them again, because as soon as I saw these three new colourways, well, I just couldn’t help myself.
I wasn’t sure about the detachable bow feature of the red version of these, and I’m STILL not sure about it on the leopard print version in the centre of the image above: in fact, I think it looks a little cheap. I absolutely love the nude and black versions, however, and have instantly added the nude ones to my wish list: they’re such a great colour and shape, and would look good with or without the lace bow.
What do you think of these? If you love them, just click here to buy yourself a pair – they’re £150.
It’s a little too late in the year for me to be thinking about sandals, and there’s a part of me that’s kinda relieved about that, because if these had popped up just a few weeks ago, I’d probably be shelling out £64.99 for them…
While the triple bow and double buckle may seem a little fussy at first, I have a feeling these would look stunning on a foot, and would be the kind of sandals that would look equally good with jeans as they would with dresses.
Those of you who aren’t obliged to wear all of your shoes by next January, and who can therefore justify the purchase of a pair of strappy sandals, can click here to buy them from River Island. I, meanwhile, will have to be content with simply admiring them from afar.
